There’s something quietly luxurious about pouring hot coffee over ice cream. In one instant, you get cold and creamy, hot and bold, rich and melty—all in a single spoonful. That’s the beauty of affogato: it’s simple, dramatic and indulgent without trying too hard.
This version skips the espresso and leans into a smooth, full-bodied decaf artisanal coffee that’s perfect for winding down in the afternoon or adding a little flair to dessert without the buzz. The coffee softens the ice cream into a creamy swirl, turning every bite into a warm-meets-cold contrast of flavor and texture.
While chocolate-on-chocolate is our favorite starting point (because who’s ever regretted that combo?), vanilla, coconut and coffee-infused flavors all bring something delicious to the table. Even lighter, egg-free ice cream melt beautifully here and give you plenty of room to play.

For this affogato recipe, I also used a small cookie scoop to create the little ice cream balls rather than one big ball. No matter how you serve it, the final result will be just as creamy and delicious.
