Bacon-Wrapped Herb Burgers

If you want to take your burger recipe to the next level, try wrapping it in bacon. The bacon not only gives this burger a delicious flavor, but it keeps the burger moist so it doesn’t dry out.

It’s also a very versatile burger recipe that’s Whole30, keto and paleo-approved.

If you’re not a huge fan of herbs, feel free to swap the herbs for delicious spices like cumin, chili, paprika, and turmeric.

Pair with keto burger buns and some keto potato salad for a classic burger meal without the carbs.

Servings6 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds organic, grass-fed ground beef or lamb
  • 12 slices of pastured bacon (chemical- and preservative-free)
  • 1 zucchini , small, grated (1 zucchini is roughly ¾ cup)
  • 1 spring onion , chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves , crushed
  • ¼ cup fresh sage , chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Add the beef, salt, onion, grated zucchini, sage, thyme leaves and garlic to a bowl and mix everything together until evenly combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 6 even portions and use your hands to mold them into 6 burger patties.
  • Now get 2 bacon slices and lay them flat on top of each other to create a cross. Place one of the burger patties in the middle of the bacon cross and wrap the bacon around the burger patty as best you can.
  • Repeat this step for the remaining burger patties.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the bacon burgers on all sides evenly until the bacon is cooked through.
  • When the burgers are ready, place them onto a lined baking tray and then into the oven to ensure the middle of the burger is cooked through. This may take 15 minutes or so.
  • When the burgers are ready, remove them from the oven.
  • Serve with a side salad, your choice of roasted veggies or steamed veggies, avocado or a poached egg.
