New and Improved Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars: Fewer Carbs, Less Crumbles, More Flavor

Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars are a staple for our consumers who prioritize nutrition and want to fuel their days. Because we’ve received lots of feedback about our bar formulation, this prompted us to make a few changes to our recipe. You can now expect a new and improved bar texture—and less crumbliness—with each and every bite. We care about your experience, along with providing top-notch customer service, which is why we’ve taken the time to address the changes (and upgrades) to our signature Collagen Protein Bars.
Our new bar formula features a firm bite with a soft, cookie-like texture and less crumbliness. The improved texture comes from quality fats, like MCT oil, cashew butter and other Bulletproof ingredients—never any gluten, soy, GMOs or artificial flavors. We heard you loud and clear: the crumbles were driving you (and us) crazy, which is why we did a dedicated deep dive to find the culprit…
We actually found that cashew pieces were the root cause of the breakage! So, we removed the cashew pieces and replaced them with cashew meal (another name for cashew flour), which is coarsely ground from whole cashew nuts. This small-but-revolutionary change now holds the bars together in a seamless, non-crumbly way.
As always, we rigorously hand-select every ingredient we use in our products. When choosing the cashew butter for our new Collagen Protein Bars, we ran thorough lab testing for toxins to deliver a clean product. This allows you to expect a trusted source of cashew butter in every bite, and us to utilize conventional cashew butter—without compromise.
You’ll also notice these bars include a small amount of safflower or sunflower oil (less than 2%), which are mixed with ground cashews to make the cashew butter. Note that we only source non-GMO sunflower and safflower oils that are high-oleic, similar to other Bulletproof-friendly fats, like olive oil. The tested oxidation levels for our high-oleic vegetable oils meet the same limits set for other Bulletproof fats, such as the grass-fed butter found in our Bulletproof Original Creamer and the coconuts sourced for our signature Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil.
Quality fats, more flavor and net carb optimization
Moreover, we also consolidated the fat content with the existing MCT oil powder (also sourced solely from coconuts and containing a blend of C8 and C10 MCTs) to deliver on quality fats for the sustained energy found in Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars.
And, while each varietal remains consistent with what our consumers know and love, we increased the vanilla in our bars to make them even more delicious.
Finally, Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars now include inulin from chicory root, which is a good source of dietary fiber. Although technically a carbohydrate, inulin does not contribute to total net carbs. A quick math lesson: net carbs are calculated by subtracting grams of fiber and grams of sugar alcohol from total carbohydrates. Because we were able to integrate a higher amount of fiber into the new and improved recipe, each serving of a Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bar now contains 4-5g net carbs.
Improved price point
In addition to changing our formula, we carefully considered the price of each bar in an effort to bring the absolute cost down. So, the new Collagen Protein Bars have a lower net weight of 40g, each, and are priced at $2.69 per bar. In essence, we maintained the same price-per-gram ratio compared to our old Collagen Protein Bars in order to provide a better final price-point for our consumers. (Score!)
