Greek Lamb Burgers With Homemade Tzatziki Sauce

It’s officially grilling season (even if you don’t own a grill), which means it’s time to cook up this Greek-inspired take on an All-American classic!

Instead of traditional beef, this ground lamb burgers recipe provides a new patty profile, without sacrificing anything in terms of flavor or mouthfeel. Plus, replacing carbohydrate-heavy hamburger buns with a fresh salad made with nutrient-dense veggies makes this dish a terrific option for low-carb or keto dieters.

So what’s the key to achieving a juicy, delicious Greek lamb burgers recipe that puts ground beef burgers to shame?

Like any satisfying BBQ dish, the secret is in the seasoning.

From basil and oregano to ground cumin and kosher salt, there’s no shortage of fresh herbs and spices in this ground lamb mixture. Next, the addition of red onion and a few garlic cloves, along with a crank of freshly ground black pepper, offers a zingy punch to the burger base.

Once prep time is complete, get ready to make magic in the kitchen. Grab a cast iron skillet, turn your cooktop up to medium-to-medium-high heat, and you’ll be one step closer to having the best round of burgers of your life.

When you’ve achieved the ideal doneness (look for a golden-brown crust), combine Bulletproof Brain Octane C8 MCT Oil, Bulletproof Original Creamer, lemon juice and a few other ingredients in a mixing bowl to create a vibrant tzatziki sauce. Then, all you have to do is lay down some lettuce, place a perfectly cooked lamb burger (or two) on top, and finish with a dollop of homemade tzatziki sauce that tastes better than anything you’ll find in your local grocery store—and dare we say your favorite Mediterranean restaurant?

Greek Lamb Burgers With Homemade Tzatziki Sauce

Start to Finish: 45 Minutes

Ingredients:

Burger

  • 2 lb. grass-fed ground lamb
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. dried basil
  • 2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Bulletproof Grass-Fed Ghee (for cooking)

Side Salad

  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Finely sliced red onion
  • Fresh lettuce
  • Sliced red pepper

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1/2 cucumber, grated (seeds removed)
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (or to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp. Brain Octane C8 MCT Oil
  • 1 cup additive-free coconut yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp. Original Creamer
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Combine all of the burger ingredients. If you have the time, allow the mixture to marinate for a few hours or overnight.
  2. Roll the ground lamb mixture into approximately 14-16 burger patties.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-to-medium-high heat, add some ghee and allow to melt. Cook a few of the burger patties on the skillet (try not to overcrowd it), and use a spatula to press and flatten the patties down. Cook on each side until golden-brown.
  4. Once the lamb burgers are cooked, place on a plate and set aside. Repeat until all of the burger patties are cooked.
  5. Mix all of the tzatziki sauce ingredients together until evenly combined. Add more lemon juice and salt, if desired.
  6. To serve, place some of the lettuce on a plate and top with 1-2 burger patties and sliced veggies of your choice. Top with a fresh dollop of homemade tzatziki sauce to give these Greek ground lamb burgers a worthy finish!
  7. Devour—with pleasure.
