JAVA DEVELOPERS GAIN BREAKTHROUGH VISUAL SERVER DEVELOPMENT TOOLS,
BULLETPROOF RELEASES JDESIGNERPRO 3.0

Los Gatos, CA, August 18, 1998 – Java developers gained a substantial advantage today as BulletProof Corporation, a recognized leader in Java tools and servers for the Intranet, announced JDesignerPro(tm) 3.0, the latest version of its flagship product suite. BulletProof has applied its three years of Java development expertise and customer deployment experience to create a new visual server-side application builder. This unique tool includes numerous features, including the new Method Explorer(tm) that facilitate the development of Java modules for server deployment. With JDesignerPro 3.0 corporate Intranet professionals have the first visual development capability for server-side Java applications which will save substantial time over using simple IDE tools like Café(tm), JBuilder(tm) and others. JDesignerPro 3.0 will ship on September 1, 1998.

"We believe BulletProof's JDesignerPro 3.0 introduces impressive new visual server-side Java development features coupled with an enterprise management server previously unavailable in the Java tools or application server arena," states Greg P. Vogel, Senior Analyst and Vice President, NationsBanc Montgomery Securities LLC. "These unique innovations bring substantial power to the corporate Java and Intranet developer."

The Method Explorer
BulletProof’s JDesignerPro 3.0 includes a breakthrough feature called the Method Explorer. This is the first tool that graphically shows the breakdown of Java classes. With existing tools, Java developers regularly waste time trying to determine the structure of a Java class file, a critical part of programming. Manually browsing through the source code was the only way to understand which methods called which global variables, accessors, and other methods. BulletProof’s Method Explorer alleviates this problem with a simple and powerful graphical view of all objects that make up a Java class. Each object in the class can be expanded to show what it accesses while also showing those objects that access it.

The Method Explorer makes locating and editing to the code for each method extremely simple by displaying it when a method is highlighted in the Explorer’s graphical view. New methods and variables are created and their properties set with a few mouse clicks.

Using JDesignerPro 3.0 Intranet developers can create Java client applications, server session and entity modules, Enterprise JavaBean session and entity Beans, and Java components. It will also open Java class files created with any other tool. When a type is chosen, JDesignerPro 3.0 creates a template hierarchy of the basic structure to help the user get started. Templates are made for server modules and Enterprise JavaBean entity and session modules. The Method Explorer is integrated with each of these types.

JDesignerPro 3.0 includes many other advanced Java development features, such as the new SQL Wizard which is unique to the BulletProof product line. With a few mouse clicks, developers can now add complete SQL statements to code. The SQL Wizard displays a list of column names automatically along with SQL operations on a visual screen. The SQL Wizard completely removes the need to type SQL which makes for flawless syntax every time.

JDesignerPro 3.0 is compatible with Netscape FastTrack, Netscape One, the Navigator and Communicator, Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT, Internet Explorer, Sun Solaris®, Sun Microsystems servers and workstations and the JavaStation, AIX, HP/UX®, Novell Netware®, Oracle®, Informix®, Sybase® and all other JDBC/ODBC compliant databases.
